    Awesome awesome awesome idea
    From a musician's forum:

"I actually did a black metal cookout one time. We barbequed goat and lamb, rare, and we all wore corpse paint, drank red wine, and listened to Burzum. It was awesome. ...I need to find those pictures."

I can just imagine people driving by. LOL.

In other news, the new guitar has arrived!

    Crazyness
So, yeah, lots happening, very little posting.

    Just picked up a very-hard-to-get Axe-FX ultra (www.fractalaudio.com)

Lots of playing music, lots of trying-to-get-even-more-awesome-job.

    And a dash of partying.

Life is up. My weight is down (new low of 336). I have automated weight loss through cyclic atkins.

Now all I need is a working vacuum... anybody got one I can borrow?

The libertarian in me is happy
    http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/08/04/california.same.sex.ruling/?hpt=T1

any ruling that says "Fuck off, let people live their lives the way they want" makes me smile.

AND, it makes me feel, at least for a while, that the system isn't quite as corrupt as I typically feel that it is.

Now.. will Obama nominate Walker to the supreme court for the next vacancy..

    cool nightlife in the triangle
looking for suggestions of cool places to go at night.

A lot of places in Raleigh are super loud, kinda hoity-toity (meaning people getting super dressed up and all trying to impress each other), full of semi-violent meat-head types, or all of the above.

So, where in the triangle is a cool place to hang out for a laid back, friendly social hour?

Holy shit have I been busy.
The band... took off like a lightning bolt. We have gotten booked so much I have barely had time to sleep. Hell, we opened a rock festival and we have only been really "existing" a few months. We hired a bassist last week.

    Wow. Just... wow.

I used to joke about "rockstar is my backup plan" while I was in grad school. I guess I really DO get the last laugh.

    :)

New bike came, but due to injuring my back I may not be able to keep it. Sigh. The thing is awesome too.

How to support your local rock band's
So, one of the things I have learned getting the band is this: Venue's don't give a flying fuck about your music. They only want you to bring people to their place (basically to sell drinks).

It is not a mutually beneficial relationship until later. They just want people. That you entertain is... secondary. Eventually, you have a big enough draw that you can go to venues that get tons of people already and are actually looking for good entertainment in and of itself (for their customers).

So, here is how to support your local rock bands: GO TO THEIR SHOWS. Every person matters. The more people you bring, the better. Even if you don't BUY anything the surge of people makes a HUGE difference to a band's success.

    more oil spill
OK, so... WHY THE HELL is BP fucking around with trying solutions one at a time? It should have been working on prepping ALL possible solutions from the begining.

All the execs at BP and whomever owned that rig before BP leased it... should be arrested and EXECUTED on national TV. Maybe if executives had PERSONAL responsibility for safety failures for workers and our citizens... safety equipment wouldn't be given a pass.

how to stop more BS like the oil spill
"any government official meeting with or taking money or other goods from a person representing an industry or business shall have commited a capital offense... Any person acting on behalf of a business or non-corporeal citizen of the United states shall have commited a capital offense."
There, fixed that for you. Hangings can actually solve future problems of this nature.

I am not particularly fond of the tea party.. but I know I am voting against anyone in office right now.

How to stop people talking on phones while driving
    Simple:
Block cell signals in the car unless the phone plugs into a special cradle/cable in the car. Then calls are allowed BUT ONLY if the car is stopped (like you pull over).

    Done.

Oh, and make checking the system part of your annual safety check.

    titled, tagged, totally fucking awesome
So I have been riding around on my tricked out new bike.

The thing was LOADED when I got it

    Aftermarket exhaust
    Anti-lock brakes
    extra power outlets
    extra lighting
    upgraded bulbs
    heated grips
    integrated autocom radio
    custom mount for GPS
    custom mount for radar/laser detectors
    topcase
    bike cover
    hand guards
    etc
    etc
    etc

About 90% of the stuff a person can install... has been installed. Including custom fabrication.

But, being me... I am gonna want to add some stuff
    Additional risers for the handlebars
    peg lowers
custom vibration reducing footpeg mounts (I will have to design these)
Stainless steel brake lines (needed for the handlebar risers).

And I might sell the exhaust. It is worth over a grand brand new... and they no longer make them in this country. They sound AMAZING, but if I sold them it would cover the pricey upgrades listed below. and they are HOT. My roommate rode on the back for about 20 min and got uncomfortable even through his sneakers. I don't know if the stock pipes are less hot but if they are that would be a good reason to do the switch. Or at least, switch to a less hot aftermarket pipe set.

Read me gush about how it rides )

    It's here... my precious!
New bike arrived this morning. LOVE IT.
I take it over to the mechanic's tomorrow for a solid once over, inspection, and then I can go get my tags!

    Lost
Lost its way and ended up in EPIC FAIL LAND.
I am glad I watched the show while hurt on my back instead of investing 6 years of energy into it. I expect riots in the street for those people.
I wonder if the producers will even SURVIVE?

    smooth jazz crazy train
    http://music.todaysbigthing.com/2010/05/21
Works SURPRISINGLY well. I guess good songs just transcend style.
Though, since I know how to play this song... it is mainly slower and with less distortion with the tone of the guitar biased towards upper mids.
That solo is sick though. I till haven't found a good transcription, so all I have is my pretty-close version. The real one is better.

what english sounds like to foreigners

I think we sound TOTALLY AWESOME.

    New guitar!
    Taylor 310 CE

And no, I didn't pay ANYTHING near that much. 830 out the door. I could sell it today for a few hundred more than I payed.
I tried to bargain down to 500. I pissed the sales manager off. Apparently he screamed at the sales associate to "go back in there and tell that guy 800 is a fair price". I said OK to 800... if that included tax and a nice case :)
We settled at 830 after tax with a nice case.
    Mwa hahahahaha.

    hrmm
I am thinking about getting another ear piercing and a tattoo. Been thinking about the tat for a long time. I thought that as an artist, I would do the whole design myself, but now I have come to the conclusion that working with a more experienced/pro artist would really help. I know a guy in NY who is amazing who can probably hook me up.
Gonna wait till I drop the weight though. I don't want it getting all distorted.

    Truth.
New motorcycle arrives on Monday. BOOYA. Right about the time I am in shape enough to ride it home. Ok, I could ride it now... but an extra few days definitely won't hurt in that regard.
    WOOO!
