    Directlife exercise thingy/fob/whatsit
    http://www.directlife.philips.com/

Basically, the newer, better, pedometer. Waterproof so it works even with swimming. I found a review that liked it, and I ordered it.

I have been weight stable for over a month, which is annoying. maybe this can help me figure out why I am not losing weight, or what I need to do.

It comes with 4 months of coaching, based on what the device picks up.

    remote work
So... I am thinking about taking some classes and really working on some skills that would let me do web development and such full time, and remotely. Then all I would need is a good laptop and I could travel the world without losing some sort of steady paycheck.

Anybody know someone who has done this? I could use the advice.

    weight
So, a little more than 3 months in, I am down about 25lbs. I seem to have hit a rather stubborn set point, as I am not moving much, up or down, even over the holidays.

    done with grad school
Turned in my Thesis/Project yesterday. Got confirmation/happiness today. I have to go back and manually upload it to their electronic DB, but that is minor.

I am officially done with Grad school. Now I just wait for the diploma.

    Dead Goats
AS some of you may or may not know, I had two goats in my backyard eating the lawn.

I woke up today and they were next to each other, dead. No trauma, not tangled, just fallen on their side like some jonestown death pact victims.

So, I am pretty sure someone (neighbors) poisoned them. 1 goat might die of natural causes, but two, at the same time, next to each other (like they would be if they were eating from someone's hand or something like that)...... they were fine just a day ago.

    Assholes.

    Truer words...
Cross posted from a random slashdot.org post.
This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity
generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the U.S. Department of
Energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by a municipal
water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC-regulated
channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National
Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was
going to be like, using satellites designed, built, and launched by the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
I watched this while eating my breakfast of U.S. Department of
Agriculture-inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined
as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
At the appropriate time, as regulated by the U.S. Congress and kept
accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the
U.S. Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration-approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build
by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly
stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the
Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal
Reserve Bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be
sent out via the U.S. Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public
school.
After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to
the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the
Occupational Safety and Health administration, enjoying another two meals
which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back
home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence
because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal's
inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks
to the local police department. And then I log on to the internet --
which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects
Administration and post on Freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how
SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can't do anything
right.

Except the extra keyboard. WTF. DROID v2 should be the exact same thing, no keyboard and have it all be a battery... battery life for like.. 5 days.

    maine
Maine offends me, just like california did. Not specifically about Gay Marriage, but the very concept that people get to vote on the rights of others. THAT is fucked up.

I believe very strongly in the "life liberty and pursuit of happiness" part of the constitution. And you know what, the response by the US to the british when they tried to shut that down was to SHOOT THEM until they left.

I believe our rights, written and unwritten, have a safety clause in the 2nd amendment. If someone tries to step on your rights, you are (in my mind) authorized to use as much force as necessary to get them to step off. You don't HAVE to use force... but if gay people (or their supporters) started shooting the religious nutcases that drive this crap, they are in the moral clear in my book.

I would even buy them ammo. Fuckers.

I don't want people voting on the rights of gay people... because I don't want people to think they can vote on MY rights.

And I don't own a gun, but if stuff like this happened that was something that affected me... I might buy one.

    Down another 3 lbs
Last week I went back up to 372 from as low as 369 (digital scale, wearing only shorts). Today I got on the digital scale and had dropped down to 365.5

    BOOYA!

The hour of swimming per day is really paying off. Sometimes I have to skip but... meh. This week I had a solid 5 hours of cardio/resistance training from swimming laps.

Slowly but surely, I *will* hit my 225 goal! (yeah... still a ways to go)

    standup
So, I have now done 2 standup shows. Both were good, but my second... well, I have no met people who heard about it 2nd and 3rd hand. Apparently I was funny :)

I really like standup. I need to stick with it. It is fun, powerful, and just feels right to me.

    :D

    yay!
So, I have a phone again, with HUGE thanks to creepydoll. Go Creepydoll!

I have gotten *hardcore* about weight loss. In the last month or so, I have lost 15lbs. Most was the first month, then I plateaued.

    SO, I started swimming.

    Lap swimming

    For an HOUR

    EVERY DAY.

For the last WEEK..... And now the weight is moving down again.

Also looking on getting a tour bike
I want to do trips like THIS:

    phone is dead
My phone fell out of my locker after swimming yesterday. The antenna snapped and reception is basically ZERO now. Even in areas where I had a solid 5 bars.

So, anybody got a spare verizon phone?

    Motorcycle ABS testing

Eye opening, and why the next bike I get will have ABS no matter what.

    ongoing weight loss
I am down about 12-14 lbs (fluctuates day by day) over the last 7 weeks. But, for the last 3, I have been pretty static at that number. SO, to supercharge the process, I have joined the NCSU gym where they have a pool. Time to start doing cardio!

The house is pretty sweet, and I continue to unpack/clean/decorate. I wanted to have a housewarming party this month, but it will have to be in early November.
